Am I feeding my rabbit wrong, his poo is getting smaller and harder?

getajob asked:

I give him a cup of romaine, maybe a few slices of apple and about a dozen baby carrots every day along with timothy hay, regular rabbit food, gourmet food, and some raw sunflower seeds. He has a salt lick and a mineral lick (which he never uses) and his water bottle.
Maybe he is overfed???? His poo used to be about the size of a pea and now it is like a bebe.

cut down on carrots and sunflower seeds. He is a bit dehydrated, hence dry **** that is smaller and more dense.

he is over fed. Try rotating the feed sources. Keep rabbit feed and Timothy hay. But maybe just give him some carrots one week, next week cut out carrots and give romaine, ect ect. And only offer extras like carrots and romaine and seeds a few days a week.

I feed and care for 200+ rabbits a day at work

He should be eating Hay the most and fruits and vegetable as a treat.

He should always have Hay in his Hutch/Cage.

He should have Treats (fruties or veggies) Once a week… But not so much of it.

He has to have at least 2 hours of exercise (Outside of Hutch/Cage) everyday.

If he doesn’t’ then he may turn Fat which might cause Health Probs.

Cut the sunflower seeds from his diet completely. They’re high in carbohydrates and can lead to obesity and fatty liver disease in domestic rabbits. You’re probably giving far too many carrots as well, ditto apple. Fruits are high in sugars and should be a treat. What’s in the gourmet food? A lot of mixes are actually very bad for rabbits.
