Has anyone tried IVET Gourmet dog food? How does it rate against other dog foods like Canidae?

GeorgiaP asked:
My vet recommends IVET but I can’t find any real reviews or opinions about the stuff.
As I said, my vet recommends it. It isn’t any more pricey than the Canidae. (Yes, doggie does get a little gas from it.) I think the quality of it look good based on the ingredients. What I don’t understand is why it is rated so low on the dogfoodanalysis.com site since no one has rated it.

Any other suggestions beside Canidae? My dog does get a little gas after meal times. This is okay during the summer when the windows are open, but winter is around the corner if you know what I mean.

This site has it listed as a 2 star, which is generally pretty low quality. Canidae I believe is rated at a 4 or 5 so according to dogfoodanalysis.com it’s not a very good food.
As for customer reviews, Google had nothing which IMO can be both a good and bad thing.
If your dogs are already on Canidae, I’d stick with it. That dog food has been proven to be good quality.
If your vet recommends you switch, try asking him/her why. They can give you a better answer than anyone on here can.
EDIT: If your vet says to switch, then go for it. I would always trust the vet over ANYTHING listed on this site.

Ivet can be hard to find as not all vets carry it. You also cannot find it in pet or feed stores either. I have fed it with good results. The price is good for the quality. If your dogs are doing well on Canidae, I feel that they would not improve by feeding Ivet. I cannot feed my dogs Canidae because of the peas and alfalfa meal in it. One dog is quite allergic to it the others get gas from it. I used to feed Canidae until the formulation changed.
